About the Project

The Lone Star College New Transportation Institute sits on a 23-acre site at the southwest corner of Cypresswood Drive and West Hardy Road. The onsite facilities include a 16,000 SF pre-engineered metal building that houses classrooms, office space, breakrooms, student gathering areas, and a driving simulation room, as well as over 350,000 SF of lighted concrete driving tracks and training pads. This new facility welcomes a greater number of students and provides additional track space for training drivers. The Corporate College Transportation Institute offers a six-week course to students in order for them to obtain their commercial driver’s license (CDL). Additionally, the Institute contracts with corporate clients to fast-track an employee’s training. Students learn the skills needed to become professional truck drivers, including pre-trip inspection, basic control skills, backing, and city street and highway driving. The program satisfies the requirements set by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
