About the Project

The San Jacinto College South Campus Engineering & Technology Center is a new 74,000 square-foot building which houses the following programs: engineering, engineering design graphics, biomedical equipment repair technician, and computer information technology. This facility consists of classrooms, administrative spaces, and various labs including a MakerSpace featuring a 3D printshop, metal shop, and wood shop to allow students to build their designs. The superstructure is primarily structural steel, but there are several architectural concrete “Y” columns that required formwork imported from Europe to cast. The skin is a combination of precast concrete, metal panel, and glass. The Engineering & Technology Center will increase the instructional capabilities of the South campus to provide the community with opportunities to advance skills & high growth trades.
